Campsey is not apologetic for Illegal Immigration Crackdown

"Like a thief in the night... illegal immigrants sneak into our communities and live among us in violation of the law,'
Tommy Campsey has NOT backed down from his truthful ad on the detrimental effects of illegal immigration.

The shadowy figure on his mailer represents criminal activity, the very first act committed by those that choose to skirt our nations entry requirements.

An issue that is very relevant for the head of the sheriff's department, one that has already applied to be part of the 287g program. An enforcement tool that illegals fear and one that is clearly making a difference.

Just another reason to push me MUCH closer to voting for Tommy Campsey.

After seeing this story last night, Mr Campsey has separated himself from the crowded sheriff candidate contest..... IN A VERY GOOD WAY!

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - A candidate for Williamson County sheriff said he would do it again -- circulate thousands of mailers linking illegal immigration to crime.

Everyone isn't pleased with Tommy Campsey's campaign tactic.

"This is an effective piece. It gets my message out," he said.

"Like a thief in the night... illegal immigrants sneak into our communities and live among us in violation of the law,' according to Campsey's flier.

"It was incredibly offensive," said Suzanne Skrabak, who lives in Williamson County. "In fact, everyone that I've shown the postcard to -- who's not received one -- their jaw drops. And they are in, you know, literally in awe that this is mailed out."

On Aug. 7, voters will elect a new sheriff. Eight men are running to succeed Rickey Headley as Williamson County sheriff. They are running for the two years remaining in his term. Headley left office in February after pleading guilty to drug charges

The flier featured a silhouetted figure.

"We're not identifying any particular person," said Campsey, Brentwood police captain who has the support of his police chief as well as the police chiefs in Franklin and Spring Hill. "We're identifying a problem."

Campsey's platform includes eliminating illegal immigration.

"You're never going to be able to please everyone. What he's talking about here is an illegal act in this country. It's a problem," said Brentwood Police Chief Ricky Watson.

Skrabak doesn't agree.

"Basically, I think that he's a racist individual."

"I would like for her to get to know me as a person before she calls me a bigot," Campsey said.

The election is Aug. 7. The new sheriff will be sworn-in Sept. 1.

Man, I missed that on the news. I can't believe the attitude of that woman. People need to get their heads out of the sand. If we are not a nation of laws, we cannot protect our citizens. I'm new to TN and Williamson county and was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of candidates in the sheriff's race. This give me direction!

"Heads out of sand? Nation of Laws to protect our citizens?" Just take a look at the last sheriff, Hedley, what about Laws that protect our Citizens from prescription-addicted sheriffs. Why doesnt anyone run their campaign on not being corrupt and abusing prescriptions. Do you really win by blaming poor immigrant workers for society's problems?
