My e-mail response sent bright and early this morning.....Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2008 7:50 pmYour blog post of me, Gregg RamosTo: TrumanBlog@aol.com
From: Gregg RamosDear Truman:
I saw that you recently blogged about me (“…the lead immigration law obstructionist himself”). While I suppose I should appreciate your description of me as “outgoing and friendly”, the part I thought was unfair was where you concluded as follows: “As he was talking, It (sic) was all too obvious, (sic) that there is nothing in the way of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT that is acceptable to Ramos and his side.” This is a bit of an over-generalization, don’t you think? Moreover, I have no idea how you possibly could have arrived at this conclusion in light of the fact that you never asked me for my opinion on immigration enforcement, illegal or otherwise, and I certainly never offered or expressed such an opinion during the conversation you wrote about in your blog. Instead, my comments were focused exclusively on Crafton’s idiotic English-only referendum, which I always have contended is not only overly broad but also is absolutely useless in dealing with the overall subject of immigration.
In any event, if you really want to sit down with me and discuss the English-only law (by the way, I have never tried to portray myself as an expert on what I believe is the completely unrelated subject of immigration; in fact I hope you noticed that I do not even practice immigration law), I respectfully and cordially invite you to be my guest for lunch at the Nashville City Club. In this way, we can have a real face-to-face, man-to-man conversation where you will not be required to remain as quiet as a church mouse and keep your opinions to yourself. I guarantee that I will listen to everything you have to say.
Let me know. I’m serious about this invitation. I have to be out of town for the next few days but I’ll return next week. Gregg
Gregg,I hope we can make our schedules mesh. I will make an effort not to appear like a "chapel rodent" during any future conversation.
I appreciate your invitation to lunch at The City Club, a very generous invitation indeed.
My current work schedule and children after school activities makes it necessary to meet you for coffee and conversation in the Hillsboro Village, Green Hills or Brentwood areas during the afternoon or evening (Tuesdays and Thursdays are most open)....My treat.
I welcome and look forward to a cordial conversation whether it be Man to Man OR Man to church mouse.
(-:
Just drop me a note.
Beast Regards,
Truman
